Wedding cakes

Was asked to do my first wedding cake design for a family friend
wasnt sure what to do when they asked for a giant cupcake
and 90 cupcakes. Thought there is more you can do with a giant cupcake
than covering it in buttercream! So covered in fondant
just as I would any other cake and made fondant flowers for the top part.

The large cake was chocolate cake and cupcakes where a combination of chocolate
with vanilla topping and vanilla with strawberry flavoured topping.
The teal coloured swirls also had a gold lustre spray applied to them.

This was my second wedding cake.
The couple had met in Amsterdam so wanted something
in relation to Holland. So I made a windmill
and painted it to look like delftware.

I go to a Zumba class here in my village.
I was delighted that I had the opportunity to make a mini birthday cake
for our instructors mum Wilma, who kindly puts a lot of orders my way.

Childrens Birthday cakes

This is a collection of childrens birthday cakes done
over the last year or so

As well doing the novetly cakes I also
do some homebaking for our local shop.
Meringues seem to be a favourite!

More cakes created 2011

Darth Vader done for friends son.
Ended up using a mixing bowl to create the shape for the head!
Daughter is a big Dr Who fan so decided to create
The Tardis

I go to our local Kilbarchan Zumba group and
we have fundraising nights, so I donated a voucher to
have a cake made, and one of our members Gail decided
she would like a Zumba cake!!
Family friend Jean's 70th birthday, she is a keen hill
walker, this is her relaxing on an outing
Didnt have a heart shaped cake tin so used large
round cake tin and cut to shape. Used crimping tool
to make design around the edge

My first few birthday cake orders

At last I have actually got around to starting my blog!!

These are some of the first novelty cakes that I done last year.
I get photos and  then do my best to replicate  them in a cake!
So far everyone has been pleased with the results
Only problem I didn't think about was the bigger cakes,
like the guitar and the football shirts need big boards!
